Lieutenant General Yevhen Moysiuk, who was recently appointed Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, may be appointed to replace Oleksandr Syrskyi as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko.
He noted that Moysiuk "is being considered as a replacement for Syrsky after the failure on the Kursk front."
Yevhen Moysiuk was born in 1979 in Chernivtsi. In 2000, he graduated from the Odessa Institute of the Ground Forces, after which he served in the Airborne Assault Forces. He participated in peacekeeping missions in Iraq and Kosovo.
During the Russian-Ukrainian war, he commanded the 81st Airmobile Brigade (2014–2018). Since December 2014, he directly led the defense of Donetsk Airport, and after the complete destruction of the airport building by the enemy, he led the withdrawal of personnel. He was the First Deputy Commander of the Airborne Assault Forces (2018–2019) and Commander of the Airborne Forces (2019–2021). From 2021 to 2024, he held the position of Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In February 2024, he was appointed Special Presidential Envoy for the Implementation of International Security Guarantees and the Development of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. On February 7, 2025, Moysiuk was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense.
