Who is Olena Lubenska and what scandal happened in Lviv?

Another scandal broke out in Ukraine with free travel on public transport for citizens with the status of a combatant, and at its center was the well-known servicewoman Alena Lubenski.

"Apostrophe" tells what is known about the Lubensky family.

Yuriy and Alena Lubensky from currently occupied Berdyansk Zaporizhzhia were talked about in the media in the fall of 2023. Before the war, the couple was actively engaged in business, having a cheese factory.

However, after the invasion, they left both their beloved business and their hometown.

They moved in March 2022, first to Lutsk, then to Khmelnytskyi region. Later, the family moved to Lviv. She and her husband tried several times to return to the cheesemaking business, but things did not go well in a foreign city.

The couple volunteered, and then together they decided to join the Ukrainian army. In September 2023, they became volunteers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Yuriy himself went to the TCK, and Olena went with volunteer medics to evacuate the wounded, and underwent military training in the Rivne region.

Olena has three children, two of whom are studying at university, and the younger girl is being raised by her grandmother.

Recently, a servicewoman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine spoke about a humiliating situation that happened on public transport in Lviv. She noted that she often pays for travel, even though she has a UBD card.

On the day of the scandal, she did not have any cash with her and declared that she had an ID, after which she was attacked with accusations: "What kind of UBD do you have? Who are you, where did you get it and where did you buy it?" It is noteworthy that everyone present in the minibus remained silent when the driver spoke disparagingly to the military woman.

We previously wrote that Ukraine has made changes to the procedure for obtaining the status of a combatant . In particular, we are talking about the possibility of automatically obtaining the status of a combatant.
