On Monday, June 3, during a Pokrovsk District Court hearing, the organizer of the attack on Kherson activist Kateryna Handziuk, Serhii Torbin, pleaded guilty and decided to cooperate with prosecution.
The hearing was streamed online on the “Judicial Power of Ukraine” portal.
Torbin pleaded guilty to part 4 and 5 of Article 27, part 2 of Article 28, and part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and agreed to 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment according to Article 69 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Among those who attended the hearing were two prosecutors, the victim’s father, Viktor Handziuk, and his representative, the defendants Mykita Hrabchuk, Volodymyr Vasyanovych, Vyacheslav Vyshnevsky, Viktor Horbunov, Serhii Torbin, and their four lawyers, as well as lawyers of the chairman of the Kherson Regional Council Vladislav Mangera.
Deals for the remaining defendants are still under consideration.
As “Apostrophe” reported earlier, another suspect in the organization of the attack on Kateryna Handziuk, Ihor Pavlovsky, often called Kherson authorities on the day of the crime and other important for the investigation days.
