Russia launched 9 missiles and 27 Shaheds: Ukrainian skies' defenders told about the results of air defense

On Thursday night, June 20, the Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones - most of them were shot down, but there were some hits.

Commander of Ukraine's Air Force, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, spoke about the consequences of the attack on his Telegram channel.

Thus, at night, the enemy used 9 missiles of various types and 27 Shahed-type attack UAVs:

  • 4 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS strategic aviation aircraft (launch area - airspace over the Caspian Sea);
  • 3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles (from Voronezh Region - Russian Federation);
  • 2 Kh-59 guided missiles (from the airspace over the Azov Sea);
  • 27 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs (launch area - Primorsko-Akhtarsk - Russian Federation).

As a result of the attack, critical infrastructure facilities were hit. The enemy mainly targeted facilities in the east, in particular, in the Dnipropetrovs'k Region.

The air attack was repelled by fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units and electronic warfare equipment of the Air Force, as well as by mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

As a result of the air combat, 32 air targets were shot down:

  • 4 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles;
  • 1 Kh-59 guided missile;
  • 27 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs.

The air defense system intercepted missiles in Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, and Vinnytsia regions.
