Ukrainian referee Pavlo Vasylynchuk from Bukovyna was recognized as the best judge of the 2020 Olympic Games according to the organizing committee of the Games boxing tournament, the Boxing Federation of Ukraine reports.
"Judge of the international category AIBA (3 stars) Pavlo Vasylynchuk from Ukraine was recognized as the best judge of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo according to the organizing committee of the Olympic boxing tournament!" the message of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine reads.
Pavlo Vasylynchuk was the only representative of Ukraine out of 36 arbitrators in the Tokyo 2020 International Judicial Corps. In total, Vasylchuck had 10 fights as a referee in the ring and 32 fights as a member of the judging team.
The judge has three stars according to the AIBA classification. Competitions in Tokyo were his first Olympic Games, said the Chernivtsi Regional Boxing Federation.
"Vasylynchuk is the first Ukrainian judge to receive the title of the best judge of the Olympic Games. He is an international referee. This is a big event for the whole boxing community in Ukraine!” the message reads.
It's worth noting that 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games have drawn to a close, with Ukraine finishing the games with a total of 19 medals, including 12 bronzes, 6 silvers, and 1 gold medal.
