Roman Godovany, an ex-former defender of Lutsk football club "Volyn", died at the front during a military mission. He is survived by his wife and two children.
This sad news is reported by Chortkiv Regional Information Center.
Roman Godovany was a member of Ternopil football team, played for "Volyn" Lutsk, where he became a silver medalist in the First League.
Godovany also played several matches for the youth national team of Ukraine. He ended his sports career in 2018 because of his health problems.
After the beginning of Russian full-scale invasion in Ukraine, Roman Godovany joined the defense of his country with weapons in his hands. He was a member of the 33rd separate mechanized brigade.
At night, November 29, Roman was on a combat mission when tank started shooting at his position. The soldiers ran into a wooded area and hit a minefield.
Paramedics were unable to save the life of the Ukrainian defender.
