Trump officially spoke at a special event in the Rose Garden of the White House. According to the statements of the American president, the percentage of tariffs on imported goods around the world ranges from 10% to 49%. At the same time, Trump introduced at least 10% tariffs for all exporters to the United States.

"The long-awaited moment has arrived - April 2, 2025 will forever go down in history as the day of the rebirth of American industry, the day America took its destiny back into its own hands, and the day we began to make America rich again!" he declared.

According to Bloomberg estimates, the US decision will affect global trade by $33 trillion.

In total, the list of countries against which the US has imposed tariffs includes 183 countries and the European Union. Some of the largest trading partners of the US are the EU, Japan, Vietnam and China. In particular, for China, the tariff rate imposed is currently over 50%.

Here is part of the list that Donald Trump showed the day before:

  • Cambodia - 49%
  • Vietnam - 46%
  • Sri Lanka - 44%
  • Thailand - 36%
  • China - 34%
  • Bangladesh - 34%
  • Taiwan - 32%
  • Indonesia - 32%
  • Switzerland - 31%

Regarding Ukraine, a minimum import tariff of 10% was introduced.

The American leader also introduced a 25% tariff on all foreign-made cars, which will come into effect on April 3, and a 10% tariff on foreign auto parts from May 3.

However, after the speech, Donald Trump was about to leave when he was reminded of the need to sign the customs decree, which he apparently forgot about.

In addition, Trump even imposed a 10% import tariff on an uninhabited archipelago in the Indian Ocean. We are talking about Heard Island and the McDonald Islands. This is a small archipelago in the southern Indian Ocean that belonged to Australia in 1947. There is no permanent population there, but there are large populations of penguins, seals, seabirds and, from now on, American customs.

Apostrophe previously reported how US President Donald Trump said that the reciprocal tariffs he is going to announce this week will apply to all countries, not just a smaller group of 10-15 countries with the largest trade imbalances.
