North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ordered the DPRK military, arms manufacturers and nuclear forces to accelerate preparations for war with the United States.

During a key meeting of the country's ruling party, Kim Jong Un also said that the DPRK will expand strategic cooperation with "anti-imperialist independent" countries.
He also outlined economic goals for the new year, calling it a "decisive year" for the fulfillment of the country's five-year development plan. Kim Jong Un called for the coming year to advance industry and stabilize agricultural production.
For his part, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol visited a military unit on the front line in eastern Yeongcheon County to review its defense posture. He also called for an immediate response in case of North Korean provocation.
