Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny spoke about the creation of a "secret weapon" in 2022 together with Western partners.
" Last week, there was a lot of talk about Wiesbaden. This headquarters has truly become our secret weapon with our partners in planning operations and formulating the needs for their implementation. And I will open the curtain for you on how it was created, " the diplomat wrote on Facebook.
He recalled that after the start of full-scale aggression, military assistance from partners has increased significantly. Ukraine has received a variety of weapons and equipment, and with this - new challenges associated with its delivery and repair.
" That is why in April 2022 we created a center for coordinating the supply of military assistance to Ukraine. It was based at the headquarters of the US European Command in Stuttgart, Germany. After some time, this headquarters continued its work in Wiesbaden.
"Over time, we realized that we needed a joint operational headquarters with our partners, which would assess the needs for weapons and equipment based on the planning of operations. This issue became particularly acute in the summer of 2022, when our partners expressed doubts about the appropriateness of certain types of weapons and ammunition for the front in Ukraine ," Zaluzhny noted.
According to him, that's when the idea arose to create an operational headquarters based on logistics, which would analyze planned operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and, in accordance with NATO standards, form the need for them.
" Thanks to the support of Great Britain, this idea was implemented. And Wiesbaden received a new lease of life. In this headquarters, operations were planned, war games were conducted, needs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine were formed and transferred to Washington and European capitals. This platform became an excellent mechanism for interaction with our partners regarding future military operations and the formation of needs for them ," the diplomat wrote.
Earlier, Zaluzhny spoke about the changing role of armored vehicles in wars , which in modern realities is already giving way to drones, precision strikes, and digital intelligence.
