New wave of protests in Belarus: security forces used tear gas against the protesters

In Belarus, where protests against Alexander Lukashenko have not stopped since the August 9 presidential election, security forces brutally dispersed and detained protesters on Sunday, November 29.

This was reported by Radio Svaboda.

Shootings were heard during the protests. Moreover, the security forces used special equipment. In particular, on Partizansky Avenue and Borovlyany, tear gas was used against the protesters.

According to the “Viasna” human rights centre, as of 9:30 p.m., 330 detentions were reported in Minsk and other cities of the country.

According to the Telegram channel Tut.by, the police forces cruelly detained protesters. In Minsk, the detainees were beaten with a stick. The others were forced to stand with their hands up, while the security forces were spraying gas right in their faces. Protesters were abused in several Minsk districts.

Neurologist Ruslan Badamshin, member of the Coordinating Council, economist Dmytro Kruk and lawyer, an expert in the field of freedom of association, and the director of the Center for Legal Transformation (Lawtrend) Olga Smalyanka, were among those detained on November 29.

As was reported by "Apostrophe", earlier were preparing special means before the Sunday’s protest.
