Due to the low morale and psychological state of the personnel and their mass refusals to fight against Ukraine, the Russian Armed Forces started an outreach campaign to validate the so-called "denazification" and "demilitarization" of Ukraine, intimidating military servants with criminal liability for refusing to participate in warfare.
This was reported to the Guildhall Agency by the source in Ukrainian intelligence.
"In the military units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, due to the mass refusals to participate in military actions and overall undermined moral and psychological state of the personnel, the command and those responsible for military-political work were ordered to lead outreach campaign to justify the war against Ukraine. To carry out this propaganda, special texts were issued on the topic "The purpose and objectives of the special military operation carried out by the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine" and spread among the command," the source said.
The copy of the text contains a set of core strategic Russian propaganda narratives about the so-called "coup d'état" of 2014, the "civil war in Ukraine", external control by the West, the promotion of Nazism and Russophobia, and the alleged "destruction of the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine.
The invasion and occupation of Ukraine are opposed to the need for the alleged "fight for Russia, while the attack itself is presented as a step to forestall a "direct military conflict with NATO."
"In fact, Ukrainians are being manipulated into hating Russia. The West needs this for political, economic, cultural and military (NATO) advancement toward our borders and to weaken the state (...). All this could lead to irreversible consequences in the form of a direct armed clash between Russia and NATO countries. The Russian Armed Forces are not fighting against Ukraine or the Ukrainian people, we are annihilating Nazism and Russophobia, protecting our country and its citizens," the material says.
"We must all understand that now there is a struggle for Russia, for its further existence," another quote from the material says.
At the end of the outreach campaign, servicemen are threatened with criminal liability "for failure to comply with orders from the command, including those related to participation in the special operation."
"Right now, the moment has come to honorably fulfill your military duty and keep your military oath. For those who will get cold feet, lose courage and dare to violate the oath, driven by short-term benefit, let me remind you that the Criminal Code contains a chapter on military crimes. The criminal law punishes non-execution of orders from the command, including those related to participation in the special operation, as well as evasion of official duties," the material says.
