The Kremlin may use the unrecognized self-proclaimed Transnistrian Moldavian Republic (Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) to block the grain corridor along the western coast of the Black Sea.
This is stated in an analytical report of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
"Despite Russia's weakened presence in the western part of the Black Sea, the Kremlin may consider the false-flag operation in Transnistria as an alternative way to keep countries from participating in Ukrainian grain corridor," ISW analysts said.
We shall remind you that on Wednesday, January 10, the self-proclaimed "Ministry of State Security" of Transnistria reported shooting on the border of the unrecognized republic from Ukrainian side on January 7. After the shooting, two Transnistrians allegedly ended up on Ukrainian territory. However, the Ukrainian State Border Service did not record such incidents.
The so-called Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) is an unrecognized self-proclaimed state on the territory of Moldova. Transnistria declared its independence in 1991, and in 2006 Transnistrian separatists wanted to join the Russian Federation. Today there are so-called Russian peacekeepers on the territory of the PMR.
It is worth mentioning that 18 thousand tons of outdated ammunition remained in the warehouses in the temporarily occupied Transnistria.
