"The whole system collapsed": one of the largest Russian oil companies suffered a large-scale hacker attack

A large-scale hacker attack has hit one of Russia's largest oil companies, Lukoil. The company's entire system has been down since the morning of March 26.

The publications write about this.

Thus, users are massively complaining about failures in the work of Lukoil services. According to the monitoring portal Downdetector, more than 200 people have already reported problems with the systems.

According to the Telegram channel "Baza" , the company was attacked by hackers. The channel's sources claim that in the morning, Lukoil employees were unable to log in to their work computers: "a strange message about a malfunction, similar to hacking, appeared on the screens." Employees were required not to use work accounts to avoid data leaks.

So, access to the client user system and the company's internal databases was closed. The problem affected both the head office and regional branches.

"It is unknown how long the restoration will take. According to the source, last year, after a similar attack, the system was restored in about three days," the report says.

In addition, there was a massive outage in the work of Russian banks and payment systems. Disruptions occurred in the work of the Fast Payment System, Yandex Pay, VTB, Alfa Bank, and other organizations.

In particular, users complain about the inability to make a transfer and difficulties with replenishing the balance.

Sberbank also reported problems with the Fast Payment System (FPS). According to the bank, this was due to technical reasons.

Bank clients are experiencing difficulties when trying to transfer funds via SBP. When trying to transfer money via the T-Bank (formerly Tinkoff Bank) mobile application, a message appears: "Payments and transfers via SBP are broken - the partner is fixing it."

"If you can't pay your SBP bill, you're not alone. The fast payment system has crashed across the country. According to the Downdetector service, more than 6,000 users complained about the outage within an hour," local publications write.

It is worth recalling that hackers from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine attacked the Russian oil sector and the "Honest Mark" e-labeling system for goods between December 30 and January 1, 2025.
