WHO said humanity has all the tools to fight COVID-19

The head of the World Health Organisation Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that humanity now has everything necessary to cope with the coronavirus pandemic. And the main tool in this difficult task is the vaccines we have created. This was reported by Le Journal de Montreal.

"The pandemic will end when the world decides to end it. The destiny of the pandemic is in our hands. We have all the necessary tools," Gebreyesus said during his speech at the World Health Summit in Berlin.

At the same time, he claimed that the world uses all these tools very unreasonably as of now and, therefore, the end of the pandemic is still far away.

According to the WHO ambitious Strategy, by the end of 2021, it was expected to get vaccinated against COVID-19 40% of the world’s population. By mid-2021, it is expected to have 70% of the population vaccinated. However, current figures indicate that this goal is very far from being achieved. This is largely due to the uneven distribution of vaccines around the world.

"This goal is achievable, but only if the statements of the countries and companies that control vaccine supplies will be in line with their actions. Nationalism and the accumulation of vaccines endanger all of us" he stressed.

It's worth noting that the WHO answered who needs to get a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
