This was reported by a well-known Kyiv guide Kyrylo Stepanets on his Telegram channel.

The boulevard was built as a city street in 1830, first mentioned in 1834 as Bulvarne Shose. It was actually laid out in the early 1840s in accordance with the general plan of Kyiv of 1837.

During the renaming of the city's streets in 1919, it was named Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, in honor of the Ukrainian poet, writer, and artist Taras Shevchenko.

In 1985, a part of Taras Shevchenko Boulevard between Peremohy Square and the Povitroflotskyi overpass was joined to the former Brest-Lithuanian Avenue, which was renamed Peremohy Avenue at the same time.

Taras Shevchenko Boulevard is the only street in the city renamed by the Bolsheviks in 1919 that did not change its name after Ukraine gained independence.
