Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky fired his Cabinet

On Wednesday, March 4, Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky fired his Cabinet due to its poor performance. Despite faulting the ministers for lack of progress, Zelensky praised the Cabinet for steering clear of any corruption scandals in the past six months.

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk was replaced by a former deputy prime minister, Denys Shmyhal. Shmyhal is an economist and former governor of Ivano-Frankivsk.

The country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vadym Prystaiko was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, swapping positions with Dmytro Kuleba, who became the Foreign Minister.

Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Reznikov was appointed as the Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories;

Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov now serves as a Minister of Digital Transformation;

Arsen Avakov kept his position as Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs;

Serhiy Bessarab became the new Minister for Veterans Affairs.

Zoryana Skaletska, who last month volunteered to spend a quarantine period with the Ukrainian evacuees from China, was replaced by Illia Yemets.

Vadym Gutzeit became the new Minister of Youth and Sports;

Vladyslav Kryklii is the Minister of Infrastructure;

Maryna Lazebna assumed the position of a Social Policy Minister.

Denys Malyuska became the Justice Minister;

Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers – Oleh Nemchynov;

Minister of Finance – Ihor Umansky;

and Oleksiy Chernyshov now serves as the Minister for Development of Communities and Territories.

As Apostrophe reported earlier, Zelensky also appointed Andriy Yermak as his new chief of staff.
