Chairman of the Executive Committee of the National Reform Council under the President of Ukraine Mikheil Saakashvili addressed the Ukrainian Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denysova. She posted a photo of his letter on her Facebook page.
Saakashvili writes that his health is deteriorating, especially in recent days, while the Georgian government "clearly calls for murder". According to him, the leader of the Georgian faction said that if Saakashvili "does not die on the 41st day of the hunger strike, he will be ridiculous."
It is worth noting that today is the 35th day since Mikheil Saakashvili, who is currently in a Georgian prison, started a hunger strike.
"I am sad to note that on the 71st anniversary of the adoption of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, which was signed by the Republic of Georgia as well, citizens are tortured and are not provided with adequate medical care," Denysova wrote.
She called on the Georgian leadership to comply with international law, in particular Art. 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, according to which no one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
She also noted that Saakashvili urgently needs the support of the international community.
