NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg pointed that the concentration of Russian troops on the Ukrainian border did not change and said that there would be no compromise on Ukraine.
This is reported by Reuters.
NATO believes that the Russian Federation maintains a large number of military forces near the border with Ukraine, despite calls for de-escalation, said Alliance Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
NATO members continue to adhere to a unified position on relations with Russia, he noted.
NATO will never compromise with Russia on Ukraine's right to "choose its own path" and claim to join the alliance, Stoltenberg said.
Earlier, German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht stated during a visit to Lithuania that the Russian Federation should not tell NATO partners how to behave.
On Saturday, December 18, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, former Permanent Representative of Russia to NATO Alexander Grushko said that if the Alliance abandons Russia's proposals, Moscow has the right to switch to the "counter threat" mode.
It's worth noting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stressed that the country has the exclusive sovereign right to independently determine the development of its relations with other countries at the bilateral level, in particular, in the military sphere.
