NATO will protect its allies: Blinken and Stolterberg discussed tensions between Ukraine and Russia

On Thursday, December 23, United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken discussed with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenbergconcerns about the concentration of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine.

This is reported by Reuters with reference to the U.S. Department of State.

"They discussed NATO’s dual-track approach to Russia, noting the alliance remains ready for meaningful dialogue with Russia, while standing united to defend and protect allies," the State Department said on Thursday.

Earlier, the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden rejected Russia's claims regarding Ukraine's accession to NATO. As White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki noted, Washington is not ready to accept a number of Kremlin proposals regarding NATO. She also noted that the facts clearly indicate the build-up of Russian military forces on the border with Ukraine.

It's worth noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin named the condition which precludes Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
