Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba held a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden in Washington.
This is stated in the reports of the Ukrainian and American sides.
The purpose of the meeting was to reaffirm the United States’ commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. President Biden updated Foreign Minister Kuleba on the United States’ response to Russia’s decision to recognize the purported “independence” of the so-called DNR and LNR regions of Ukraine, including the Executive Order issued last night and new sanctions announced today.
Biden also affirmed that the United States would continue providing security assistance and macroeconomic support to Ukraine. President Biden reiterated the readiness of the United States, in close cooperation with our Allies and partners, to respond swiftly and decisively to any further Russian aggression against Ukraine.
"Focused meeting with @SecBlinken. Two strategic partners, Ukraine and the U.S. work tirelessly day & night to rally the world around Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Russia will face more sanctions and global pressure for every further aggressive step it may take," the White House said in a statement.
Dmytro Kuleba expressed gratitude to the United States for the assistance provided during difficult times for Ukraine and emphasized the leading role of Joseph Biden in mobilizing the global coalition in defense of Ukraine and the world security order.
"Grateful for the opportunity to visit @WhiteHouse today to further build on the close cooperation between our leaders, Ukraine’s President @ZelenskyyUa and the U.S. President Joseph Biden @POTUS. The U.S.-Ukraine strategic partnership remains unfaltering at this tense moment," the message reads.
