While Polish farmers continue their protests at the border, blocking checkpoints, Ukraine is trying to negotiate with the Polish side on a possible regulation of the problematic issues. But there is currently no dialogue on the blockade of the Ukrainian border.
This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna in an interview with European Pravda.
She said that Ukraine continues to try to negotiate with the Polish side on "possible resolution of problematic issues," but notes that there is no dialogue on how to resolve the crisis related to the blockade of the Ukrainian border:
"However, having negotiations on monitoring exports and imports of certain products, we do not have a dialogue on how to end the crisis related to the blockade of the Ukrainian border."
Stefanishyna notes that this is a rather long legal process that would take place in a more peaceful time:
"At the same time, we understand that such a legal process would make sense in a more peaceful time. This is a rather lengthy process, while we need to survive somehow."
When asked whether the Deputy Prime Minister sees the Polish Government's readiness to make any concessions to Ukraine, she points out that "...we are not talking about concessions," adding the following:
"Technical dialogue is taking place, but I want to emphasize again that Ukraine's dependence on exports through Poland is currently minimized. We have minimized the risks associated with this crisis for ourselves."
Stefanyshyna points out that the Polish Government should now be interested in resolving the situation inside the country. In this regard, she mentions that Polish protesters are blocking the borders with the Baltic states and Germany.
"And we are ready to meet the Polish side, we are in a dialog with them. But today we see no understanding of how to resolve this crisis situation," she added in the interview.
