China has reacted to the capture of its citizens in Ukraine who fought on the side of the Russian army.
This was reported by "Apostrophe" with reference to a statement by the representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian.
In particular, China made it clear that it did not officially send its military to fight against Ukraine.
" The Chinese government has always required its citizens to stay away from the zone of armed conflict, avoid involvement in any form, including refraining from participating in military operations of any side ," Lin Jian told reporters.
As Apostrophe reported, on April 8, 2025, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian soldiers had captured two Chinese citizens who were fighting on the side of the Russian occupiers in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, showing a video as evidence.
Zelensky ordered to take measures and contact the Chinese authorities to clarify the circumstances.
