In Britain, new COVID-19 strain symptoms explained – from fewer to tiredness. The official symptoms of coronavirus include a new persistent cough, the loss of taste and smell, and a high fever, as was reported by The SUN.

The British scientists have noted that mutations are normal in viruses like Covid-19, but some of them have questioned if vaccine efforts could be dampened by the new strain as scientists scramble to learn more about the mutation.

Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty said that symptoms of the new strain, which has been found in over 1,000 cases, aren't any different to the strain already circulating across the whole country. However, scientists did agree that the virus affects different people in various ways.

The British National Health Service (NHS) has listed three main coronavirus symptoms as:

- A new, continuous cough - where you cough a lot for more than an hour or have three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours

- Fever with a temperature of 37.8C or above

- Loss of smell or taste, anosmia

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), tiredness is also one of the more common symptoms of Covid-19. The WHO has listed less common symptoms as:

- Aches and pains

- Sore throat

- Diarrhea

- Conjunctivitis

- Headache

- A rash on the skin, or discoloration of fingers or toes

It can take around five or six days from infection to visible symptoms; however, in some cases it can take up to two weeks. Some people who catch the coronavirus may also be asymptomatic, thus not showing any of the main symptoms.

“While the symptoms of the new strain are thought to be the same as others, Public Health England is still analyzing the new strain in order to garner more information on its spread and how it will impact vaccine production,” Professor Whitty said.

As was reported by "Apostrophe", earlier scientists agreed on a new symptom of coronavirus. In a review of studies conducted in the United States, dizziness was called "one of the main clinical symptoms of COVID-19."
