The Ukrainian Navy’s diving unit has arrived in Romania to participate in the Dive 2021 multinational mine clearance diving exercise, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports.
"The combined diving unit of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on board of the search and rescue vessel “Oleksandr Okhrymenko” arrived at the Romanian Naval Forces’ naval base in Constanta. The purpose of the visit is to participate in the multinational mine clearance diving exercise Dive 2021, which started on Monday, August 2, involving representatives of Ukraine, the United States, Bulgaria, Romania, and Georgia, " the statement reads.
The drill is taking place in the Black Sea, within Romania’s territorial waters. The exercise will have four different phases
The key purpose of the exercises is to exchange the diving experience in searching and neutralizing subsurface explosive objects, as well as in planting explosives, and performing other subsurface missions.
The Dive exercise has been held since 2011. It will be the first time Ukraine takes part in Dive after participating as observer.
