Polish farmers are again threatening to resume the blockade of the checkpoint on the border with Ukraine from January 4, 2024.
This is reported by the Polish state agency PAP.
We are talking about a new blockade of the checkpoint "Medyka-Shehyni". This will happen if they don't receive written guarantees of fulfillment of their demands. In particular, it is about receiving of subsidies for corn and maintaining the agricultural tax at the level of the previous year.
Roman Kondruv, the leader of the protesters, said that written guarantees could automatically stop the future blockade.
At the same time, as the press service of Lviv Border Detachment noted, Ukrainian border guards have not been informed about the resumption of the blockade at "Shehyni-Medyka" checkpoint.
Since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has been sharply limited in the possibilities of exporting its grain. As a result, the pressure on the transportation corridors to the EU countries has increased. This led to the fact that grain became cheaper from farmers.
Earlier we wrote that Poles blocked the largest checkpoint on the border with Ukraine.
