One million drones of various types will not cover the needs of the Defense Forces, as the intensity of combat operations is quite high, and much more drones are needed.
This was told on the air of "Apostrophe" TV by Yurii Fedorenko, the commander of the Achilles UAV company of the 92nd Separate Mechanised Brigade named after Ivan Sirko.
"Regarding the overall development of the UAV segment, the process looks like this: UAV samples, both reconnaissance and strike, are scaled into production within our state, receive an order and funding. As for modernization - this is also an important factor, because those UAVs, for example, that the enemy calls "Baba Yaga", modification of early 2023 and now - are completely different aircrafts, because the enemy also adapts and tries to counteract," Fedorenko said.
According to him, now there is not only production, but also modernization of drones in cooperation with the front.
"Concerning a million of drones. This is certainly an important number necessary for the Defense Forces, but it won't be possible to fully cover the needs of the Defense Forces with a million drones, unfortunately. Why? Because the intensity of combat operations is quite high, and much more is needed. In order to ensure parity with the enemy, it is necessary to have additional drones, which are provided through both local small-scale production and donations from every Ukrainian," Fedorenko said.
He added that the full provision of drones for the Defense Forces with an unchanged line of combat operations, if it doesn't expand, the enemy will not open another front in another direction, with the funding of the state can be reached only at the end of 2025, according to a preliminary forecast.
"Apostrophe" reported earlier that Ukraine will receive record aid package from UK.
