Polish farmers blocked the checkpoint "Shehyni": no traffic neither to exit, nor to enter

Polish carriers blocked the road in the direction of the checkpoint "Shehyni".

This was reported by the Spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, in an article by RBC-Ukraine.

Currently, all types of transport cannot get to Poland and Ukraine.

He stated: "We reported yesterday that we had information from our Polish colleagues that today at 10:00 a.m. traffic will be blocked in the direction of three checkpoints - "Yahodyn", "Rava-Ruska", and "Shehyni." Of course that all these actions take place on the territory of Poland in the direction of checkpoints at different sections, the distance from the border may be different."

Demchenko claims that, according to information from Polish border guards, they have already started blocking the "Shehyni" checkpoint (known as the Medyka checkpoint on the Polish side). A Spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service suggests: "About 100 people and 50 vehicles blocked the access road to the border. They are located a few hundred meters from the checkpoint. And at the moment there is no traffic either leaving Poland or entering Poland. Both for trucks and for cars and buses."

He noted that traffic in this direction is currently blocked for all categories of transport.

"Of course we hope that in the near future this situation will change and Polish side will find the possibility of movement at least for cars and buses," - the Spokesperson said.

As for the situation on the other two directions - "Rava-Ruska" and "Yahodyn" - border guards have no information from their Polish colleagues about the beginning of the blockade. However, Demchenko states: "...it is possible that they will begin at 10 a.m Polish time (11 a.m Kyiv time). We are waiting for it. As soon as there are changes, we will definitely inform you about it."

He suggests that such border blockades may last until early March.

The Facebook channel "Granica" reports that the blockade in Hrebenne is also ongoing. According to the organizers, only 2 trucks are allowed to pass per hour. However, cars and buses will not be blocked. According to the report, the protest should end at 5 p.m. today and will resume at 10 a.m. on Monday (February 12).

Recall that recently "Apostrophe" wrote that Polish farmers have announced a new date for a strike at the border - February 9.
