It's time to establish not just an "Air Defense Coalition" of Ukraine and foreign partners, but a coalition for the joint development of anti-missile systems with NATO.
This opinion was expressed by Valentyn Badrak, a military expert, Director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies.
"Ukraine has extensive experience in shooting down Russian missiles - Zircon, Kinzhal, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. It is important for us to get replenishment of arsenals for the Patriot system as soon as possible and to replenish the launchers. This is speaking tactically. But in general, it is important to switch to joint developments, since Ukraine, as mentioned, already has a huge experience with Russian missiles of a wide range," the expert said.
In Badrak's opinion, NATO countries demonstrate their unpreparedness for a direct conflict with Russia. As an example, he mentioned Poland, which for the second time is facing the fact that a Russian missile has entered its territory, but they have not dared to give an adequate response. He recalled that Polish experts have admitted that their anti-missile defense system will be ready by 2028-2030.
"It turns out that it is Ukraine that is now defending NATO's eastern flank, not the NATO countries themselves. Accordingly, we have a moral right to have the West share its developments with us. Our defense companies can take all this into account," the expert summarized.
Earlier, Apostrophe reported that the European Commission proposed to use the profits from frozen Russian assets for Ukraine's defense and reconstruction.
