In the Rivne Region, a fisherman managed to catch a giant mirror carp in a local reservoir. The trophy is notable for its significant weight.
This is stated in the post of Yaroslav Hordych in the community Fishermen of Rivne Region on Facebook.
As noted, the weight of the giant carp exceeded 12 kilograms.
"Ostriv, as always, gave us good fish and adrenaline! Less than a day, about 10 bites and the long-awaited trophy of 12,400!" the message says.
The fisherman showed a photo of the giant fish.
Mirror carp is a breed of carp. It has a body that is unevenly covered with scales. That is, there are areas of bare skin. For example, a scaly carp has an evenly scaled body, while a naked carp has no scales at all.
It is believed that the mirror carp was bred by monks to facilitate cooking.
In general, this fish is quite common in Europe. The carp reaches a weight of up to 25 kilograms. At the same time, a record of 40.2 kilograms was set.
The record-breaking specimens are mirror carps.
The life expectancy is a maximum of 20 years. This fish reaches maturity in the fifth year of life. It feeds on aquatic invertebrates and plant food.
