The Russians may launch a new offensive in Sumy Region - the enemy is not only constantly shelling the entire territory of the region, but also amassing troops on the border.
Vadym Mysnyk, a Spokesperson for the Operational and Tactical Group of Troops (OTGT) Siversk, spoke about the situation with the occupiers on the border with Sumy Region, constant attacks, the deployment of Russian troops and fortifications on the air of Apostrophe TV.
He stressed that the enemy continues to shell the territory of Sumy Region using various types of weapons, including UAVs:
"Almost the entire territory of the region is under fire, so we cannot say that the occupiers are concentrating on any particular area."
According to him, the accumulation of Russian troops on the border with the region is also recorded, "..but it cannot be said that they can be used to attack in a certain direction in Sumy Region".
"We are monitoring the situation with the concentration of Russian troops on the border with the region, but we cannot yet give specific figures on how many forces they have concentrated in our direction," said Mysnyk, because the enemy has the technical and logistical capabilities to quickly move troops from the Kharkiv direction to the Sumy direction and back.
The Spokesperson for the Operational and Tactical Group of Troops (OTGT) Siversk, emphasises that any given figure can change quickly, either up or down: "Whatever figure we say now, it can change in one direction or another within 24 hours. So we continue to monitor the situation, and our forces are ready to stop the enemy in case of any breakthrough attempts."
In addition, enemy subversive reconnaissance groups continue to infiltrate the territory of Sumy Region, but Mysnyk notes that "...they are promptly detected and shelled, forcing them to retreat". He believes that in this aspect the situation is under control.
Regarding the issue of fortifications, work on their strengthening continues on the first, second and third lines of defence:
"On the first line, the military are working directly near the border, because there is a risk that civilian specialists and engineering equipment could come under fire from the occupiers. The second and third lines are being strengthened more intensively, as there are more technical capabilities to strengthen positions, install minefields, dig anti-tank ditches through the active use of engineering equipment, and strengthen strongholds. The second and third lines of defence are constantly being improved."
