Military bases and warehouses of Russian military equipment on the border with Finland are empty, almost everything has been transferred to Ukraine.
This was reported on the Yle website.
On average of 80% of equipment and soldiers have been redeployed to the war in Ukraine. Russian bases in other parts of Russia are also empty. The Russia's aggressive war had no noticeable effect only in the Moscow Region.
The largest amount of military equipment was transferred from the military base in Petrozavodsk.
The square marked with a red dotted line was originally used to house towed artillery and trucks.
To the north of Petrozavodsk, there is another separate area that has not been presented to the public in Finland.
Before the start of the war, hundreds of armored vehicles, artillery, machinery, and trucks were stationed in the area. There are also six large hangars on the territory that can accommodate at least as much equipment. As can be seen in the photo, most of the equipment disappeared after the attack on Ukraine.
The small number of aircraft reflects the fact that transport planes flew many missions throughout the country during the war. In addition to special military transport, they can also be used to transport parts for the defense industry.
