Following the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine of June 25, 2024, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered the creation of the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This is stated in Decree No. 382/2024.
In particular, Zelenskyy decided to enact the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of June 25, 2024, "On the creation of the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine."
He assigned control over the implementation of the NSDC decision to the NSDC Secretary.
"Taking into account the experience of the long-lasting large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, in order to increase the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding the use of unmanned and robotic air, sea and ground systems, to ensure their readiness for use, in accordance with the proposal of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine decided: to support the proposal submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to create the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the resolution reads.
The NSDC instructed the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to submit relevant proposals to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine within one month to create the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate type of force within the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
