Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the horrific Russian ballistic missile strike on Sumy, which has already resulted in the deaths of 20 people.
The head of state announced this on his Telegram channel.
Zelensky noted that enemy missiles hit an ordinary city street.
"In ordinary life: houses, educational institutions, cars on the street... And this is on a day when people go to churches: Palm Sunday, the feast of the Lord's Entry into Jerusalem. According to preliminary data, we are talking about dozens of dead and wounded civilians. Only a scoundrel could act like this. Taking the lives of ordinary people. My condolences to their families and loved ones," the president said.
And he added that a rescue operation is currently underway. And all necessary services are working.
In addition, a significant reaction from the world is needed, the Ukrainian leader claims.
"The world needs a tough reaction. The United States, Europe, everyone in the world who wants an end to this war and killings. Russia wants exactly this kind of terror and is dragging out this war. Peace is impossible without pressure on the aggressor. Talks have never stopped ballistics and aerial bombs. We need an attitude towards Russia that a terrorist deserves," Zelensky stressed.
Recall that the Russian invaders attacked Sumy on the afternoon of April 13. Previously, the blow fell on the city center.
