Russia launched two ballistic missiles at Sumy on April 13. The deadly iron flew from the Voronezh and Kursk regions of the Russian Federation.
This was reported by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko and the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council Andriy Kovalenko .
According to the minister, there were two ballistic strikes in Sumy, and the number of victims is constantly growing.
"The arrivals were clearly recorded in the city center. Today is Palm Sunday, many people were on the streets, and there is a church nearby where the consecration is taking place. It was at this time that the Russians struck, clearly realizing that they were hitting civilians," Klymenko noted.
At the same time, Kovalenko clarified that the occupiers targeted the city with Iskander cluster bombs.
"We now know about the types of two missiles that the Russians used to hit the city of Sumy from the Voronezh and Kursk regions - cluster Iskander/KN23 (DPRK)," the head of the Central Military District reported.
As of 2:10 p.m., 32 people have died in Sumy, including two children. 84 people have been injured, including 10 children.
Emergency and rescue operations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, days of mourning are being declared across Ukraine for those killed in Sumy. In particular, in Lviv, national flags will be lowered to half-mast on April 13 and 14 in memory of the Ukrainians who died .
And in Konotop, April 13, 14, and 15 were declared Days of Mourning for the victims of the Russian attack.
