Earth in the grip of a magnetic storm: when will the solar storm end?

April 2025, like March, is characterized by increased geomagnetic activity - as of April 22, the Earth is experiencing a prolonged magnetic storm that has been ongoing since the beginning of the month.

This is stated in the Meteoagent application, which tracks solar activity and its impact on the Earth.

Geomagnetic activity on Earth has remained elevated since the first decade of March - every day our planet is attacked by magnetic storms with K-indexes of 7, 6 or 5, which are high, as well as slightly weaker magnetic storms - with a K-index of 4. All of them can affect human life and lead to a decrease in overall well-being.

According to experts, the solar storm will continue to hold the Earth captive until at least April 23. However, it is worth noting that all scientists' forecasts are preliminary, since solar activity is very variable and the situation can change even several times a day.

April 22 (Tuesday) - a strong magnetic storm of level G-3 with a K-index of 6. Such a storm causes poor health in many people, drowsiness, headaches, and a decrease in activity.

April 23 (Wednesday) - magnetic storm subsides (K-index 5). Geomagnetic activity will begin to decrease, but for most of the day the indicators will remain at the G-2 level (K-index 5-6). Many people will not feel very well.

April 24 (Thursday) and April 25 (Friday) - moderate geomagnetic situation at the G1 level (K-index 4). Emotional swings, severe fatigue, decreased concentration, weakness are possible.

April 26 (Saturday) and April 27 (Sunday) - the geomagnetic field stabilizes, no more than K-index 2 is expected.

Storms vary in intensity, which is determined by solar flares. Small magnetic fluctuations are usually barely noticeable and are classified by a K-index value of 2 or 3. Storms with a K-index of 4 are already noticeable.

The impact of magnetic storms on humans

Magnetic storms affect a person's well-being and vital activities. Weather-dependent people, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with chronic diseases may experience a deterioration in well-being. Often, during magnetic storms, headaches, dizziness, nausea, joint pain, fatigue, and insomnia occur.

During strong magnetic storms, from K-index 4 and above, many people on the planet may experience a deterioration in well-being.

The main symptoms of the impact of magnetic storms on humans

  • Headache
  • Migraine
  • Nausea
  • Weakness
  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia at night and drowsiness during the day
  • Blood pressure spikes
  • Exacerbation of chronic diseases
  • Panic attacks
  • Increased anxiety
  • Irritation
  • Apathy
  • Depressive states
  • Excessive emotionality
  • Decreased concentration and performance
  • Fog in the head

At higher magnetic storm levels, people may experience more symptoms. Very strong magnetic storms can also cause disruptions in technology, especially in communications - mobile and radio communications, satellites, GPRS.

How to protect yourself during magnetic storms

During periods of disturbance of the Earth's magnetic field, doctors recommend limiting yourself in consuming harmful foods, especially excessively fried, spicy, salty or sweet. Experts also recommend giving up coffee, alcohol, energy drinks. Instead, it is better to consume more fruits, vegetables, greens and fish. It is also important to ensure sufficient consumption of plain water - at least 1.5 liters per day.

If your health condition worsens significantly, you should definitely seek help from doctors.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center reported whether there will be frosts in early May.
