In the Kuban, detained Russian servicemen suspected of deserting their army units or places of duty have staged a riot due to poor conditions. Some of them managed to escape.
This is reported by the website "Caucasus.Realities".
It is noted that this happened on the night of April 19 in Krasnodar. About a hundred occupiers took part in the riot. They broke through the fence near the commandant's office of the Krasnodar garrison, which is located together with military unit No. 40304. Because of this, increased security measures were introduced in the area, blocking traffic, and police officers checked cars.
It is known that seven Russians escaped from the commandant's office, four were soon detained, and the fate of three is still unknown.
"Local journalists published a tip-off about them. As Mediazona found out, the pictures show 39-year-old native of Kamchatka Krai Alexey Girev and 37-year-old Igor Leonov from Adygea. Girev had a previous conviction and appeared in the wanted databases of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a suspect in the theft of a car, Leonov - in the case of unauthorized abandonment of the unit," the publication writes.
As human rights activists report, the tightening of detention conditions for so-called SZChniks is an attempt to "plug the holes" through which deserters escape.
The scale of desertions is evidenced by data from the Ministry of Defense. The documents mention 50,000 servicemen who left their units in 2024 without permission. Criminal cases were opened against 20,000 of them - under articles on desertion, desertion, and refusal to obey orders.
"If we count from the total number of the army, which currently amounts to about one and a half million people, the figure may seem small - up to five percent. But if we consider only those involved in the war, which, according to Kryvenko, is 400-500 thousand military personnel, it turns out about ten percent," the lawyers added.
The conditions in which the fugitives are held are "horrible" both due to organizational disarray and the attitude of the commanders.
"For them, this is not theirs. This is cannon fodder that needs to be sent back to the front. Violence in such a system is just a way to do it," the human rights activists added.
As "Apostrophe" wrote, Russian occupiers from the 503rd Motorized Rifle Regiment, fighting in the Zaporizhia direction, are not paid financial support.
Also, in the Kherson region, Russians were completely banned from using mobile communications.
