On Feb. 20, a man who had been wandering in the woods for almost two weeks was found in Cherkasy Region.

This was reported by the police of Cherkasy Region.

The 39-year-old man, who went missing in Cherkasy on Feb. 7, was found without physical injuries. For two weeks, police, foresty workers, military, National Guard, and other concerned citizens were looking for him.

A woman reported the disappearance of a local resident to the police on Feb. 8. She said that her brother had left in the morning in a Renault Duster and had not returned home in a day. Mobile communication with the man was also cut off.

Officers of the Cherkasy District Police Department began searching for the missing man. Criminal investigation operatives checked the vehicle in the video surveillance system "Safe Cherkasy Region" and found that the car was moving in the direction of the city of Smila. Then law enforcement officers continued the search in Smila District.

Later, they received information that near the village of Balakliia, forestry workers had found a Renault Duster. However, the man was not in the car.

Then police cynologists, officers of Smila Police Department, concerned citizens, the military and the National Guard were involved in the search.

"For two weeks, the search teams searched through bushes, swamp, and examined kilometers of forest. The police used a quadcopter and a thermal imager. And only today, when they once again passed near the Irdyn River, the man was fortunately found," the statement said.

Later it turned out that the man lost his way in the forest and could not find the path to his car in the unfamiliar terrain. Tree branches and grass instead of food helped him to survive.

Medics reported that he was exhausted, but there was no threat to his life and health.
