Western combat aircraft can significantly help Ukraine in the war against Russia.
Military expert, Petro Chernyk spoke about this on the air of Apostrophe TV.
"Aviation can change the course of the war. Receiving 80 aircraft can solve the problem of Su-34s, which drop a large number of FAB bombs. Now everything is moving towards the transfer of aircraft. In the last package, Sweden handed over an air reconnaissance aircraft. As well as air-to-air missiles, which are designed to solve this problem," Chernyk said.
According to him, the F-16 and French Mirage are 4th generation aircraft that have a large number of operating modes. They can shoot down cruise missiles and drones, destroy similar aircraft, including Su-34 and Su-25.
"The F-16 is much better in terms of its capabilities. Although the Mirage has unique options that the F-16 does not have. In particular, it can carry Storm Shadow missiles, which were specially developed for the Mirage and Eurofighter Typhoon. It is also easier to maintain than the F-16. The F-16 has a higher payload, greater maneuverability. And it can work with radars from Petriot and satellites. The Ukrainian KAB bombs will be similar to their American equivalents, which can strike at a distance of up to 110 km. Over the past 30 years, Ukraine has not developed bombs at all. That is why the enemy will prevail in this regard for a long time,''Chernyk said.
According to him, it would be good if Ukraine could produce 100 bombs a month in the near future.
"The Kharkiv operation has stalled. However, it has achieved its main goal - 2 footholds near the border have been created. Meanwhile, the enemy failed to provoke a humanitarian crisis in Kharkiv. It is possible to eliminate these footholds, but it requires a lot of modern weapons," noted Chernyk.
