Streets turned into rivers in the capital of Hungary: photos and video of a massive flooding

In the capital of Hungary, the water level in the Danube River is rising rapidly, causing massive flooding. This is because cyclones and their fronts have caused variable weather over much of Europe in recent days.

This is announced by General Directorate of Water Management (OVF), Hungarian media reports.

As noted, in many places in the Carpathian Basin fell from 10 to 30 millimeters of mixed precipitation.

Variable, rainy and windy weather persisted into the weekend, with several waves of another 15-60, and in some watersheds 60-80 millimeters of precipitation.

Later on, the weather is expected to be drier and milder, like early spring, with maximum temperatures around 15 °C.

The precipitation causes tidal waves on the Danube and its tributaries, the Directorate noted.

In the upper stream of the Danube, the flow has peaked, and the work of water experts in Győr is being assisted by their colleagues in Szolnok, the General Directorate of Water Management noted.

In the counties of Nagybajcs, Győr-Moson-Sopron the water reached its peak.

Due to high water levels in the Danube, Tram 2 between István Széchenyi Square and Boráros Square, and Trams 2B and 23 between Jászai Mari Square and Boráros Square do not run in Budapest.
