Pope made a new statement on the war in Ukraine and peace talks

Pope Francis has once again called for peace talks. This is the only way he sees a chance to end the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

The statement was published by Vatican News.

In his speech, he emphasized that "the war-torn peoples of Ukraine and the Holy Land, Palestine, and Israel, who suffer so greatly from the horror of war," noting that war is already a defeat. Therefore, it cannot be continued, and efforts should be made to bring the parties to the negotiating table.

"We must make every effort to negotiate to end the war," the Pope said.

The pontiff called on the faithful to pray for the start of peace talks, in particular, between Ukrainians and Russians.

Earlier, Pope Francis said that Ukraine must be brave to raise the white flag and start negotiations with the aggressor country.

After that, his press service repeatedly commented on what exactly the pontiff meant by the "white flag." They claimed that the speech was not about "surrender" but about a negotiated dialogue.

Earlier, we wrote that the European Union will not recognize the results of Russian sham elections.
