China develops attack drones in cooperation with Russia

China and Russia are working on a new kamikaze drone similar to Iran's Shahed.

Bloomberg writes about this, citing its sources in the EU.

In 2023, companies from the Russian Federation and China held talks on replicating and producing a copy of the Iranian Shahed drone in China. And this year, they have already started testing it before shipment to Russia. Allegedly, China is still hesitating whether to send whole drones to Russia or parts that can be assembled locally.

Europe believes that providing Russia with these UAVs would cross the line into lethal aid, against which Chinese officials have been repeatedly warned by the West.

At the same time, Chinese defense websites and several media outlets have reported that the country is developing a kamikaze attack drone called the Sunflower 200, which looks similar to Iran's Shahed 136 drone.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg assesses China's actions as a challenge to the Alliance's values and interests.
