Cause of death of 4 US soldiers in Lithuania revealed

The four American soldiers who died near the Lithuanian training ground in Pabrad were supposed to evacuate stranded army equipment, but they went off course, and their M88 Hercules armored vehicle fell into a swamp and sank.

The New York Times writes about this.

The head of the Lithuanian Marsh Restoration and Protection Foundation, Nerijus Zablyackis, stated that the peat bog where the US military armored vehicle fell was not marked on the maps. At the same time, military analyst Aleksandras Matonis claims that the Pabrady bog is marked on the official Regia.lt map.

The circumstances of what happened are being investigated by both Lithuanian law enforcement agencies and the American command.

As is known, four servicemen went missing near the border with Belarus in the early morning of March 25. The first three soldiers and their M88A2 Hercules armored recovery vehicle were pulled from the peat bog on March 31.

As "Apostrophe" wrote, the M88 Hercules tracked vehicle with military personnel on board was dragged into a swamp to a depth of about five meters , and the lifting operation lasted several days.
