Putin's representative arrives in the US

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special representative of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, arrived in Washington to meet with US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff.

This is reported by The Washington Post.

A source familiar with the negotiations said on the night of April 3, Kyiv time, that the meeting was "ongoing." However, it remains unclear whether the negotiations had concluded at the time of publication.

The publication notes that the visit took place against the backdrop of Trump's statements about his "great indignation" over Putin's comments on the legitimacy of the government in Ukraine. The Washington Post suggests that the main purpose of Dmitriev's visit is to reassure the American administration and once again emphasize the possibility of not only a peaceful settlement, but also large-scale financial agreements.

On the morning of April 3, Dmitriev published a post on the X network in which he explained the importance of dialogue between Russia and the United States: " Regardless of political views, dialogue between the United States and Russia matters. It is about creating a more secure and prosperous world for all ."

CNN reported that the US authorities temporarily lifted sanctions against Kirill Dmitriev in order to issue him a visa to enter the US.

Earlier, Dmitriev announced the start of negotiations with the United States on joint mining of Russian rare earth metals.
