"A Ukrainian launched a Russian into space instead of a dog!" Zelensky's advisor on Cosmonautics Day

Advisor to the President of Ukraine on Strategic Issues Oleksandr Kamyshin spoke about the International Day of Human Space Flight, which is celebrated annually on April 12.

Kamyshin wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

"On April 12, 1961, for the first time in human history, Ukrainian Sergei Pavlovich Korolev launched a Russian into space instead of a dog!" the official emphasized.

As is known, on April 12, 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, aboard the Vostok spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, made the world's first orbital flight around the Earth, which lasted 108 minutes.

And on April 12, 1981, the first manned flight under the American Shuttle program began.

World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day is a holiday celebrated in Russia and some other post-Soviet countries on April 12, established by the International Aeronautical Federation to mark the first human flight into space.

In Ukraine, April 12 is celebrated as the Day of Workers of the Rocket and Space Industry of Ukraine.

Recall that Ukraine and the European Union signed five agreements in various areas . In particular, on supporting critical infrastructure and participating in joint space programs.
