COVID-proofing the White House after Donald Trump leaves office

With the intent on setting a good example for the country avoiding the dangerous outbreaks of Covid-19, which have infected dozens in President Donald Trump’s inner circle, including his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, Joe Biden will carry the virus safety practices out in the White House on move-in day.

This was reported by Politico with reference to a representative of the US General Services Administration.

Only after the disinfection, the newly-elected President of the United States will move into the White House.

As the coronavirus can linger on surfaces for multiple days, a team deployed by the General Services Administration will go over every part of the White House's East and West Wings touched by human hands in the hours after Trump departs and Biden moves in, a spokesperson from the agency confirmed to Politico. That includes plans to "thoroughly clean and disinfect" all furniture, doorknobs, handrails and light switches, before Biden and his team move in. Additionally, a private contractor will provide "disinfectant misting services" to clear the air of lingering droplets.

During the presidency, Trump violated recommendations on social distancing and wearing masks at the White House events. He almost never appeared in the mask to the public eye. Rallies in support of Trump were even named as "super-distributors" of the coronavirus, although Trump prompted people to adhere to the recommendations of doctors. Biden's team, on the other hand, emphatically followed all the rules. Trump, therefore, ridiculed an opponent whose events were attended by very few people placed or seated at great distances from each other.

According to "Apostrophe", in Washington, the residence of the President of the United States White House was decorated for Christmas. This year, the First Lady Melania Trump this year, fulfilled the mission for the last time.
