The United States will not shoot down Iranian drones over Ukraine as it did during Iran's attack on Israel.
John Kirby, NSC Coordinator for Strategic Communications in the White House, emphasized this at a briefing.
When asked whether the United States was ready to shoot down Iranian-made kamikaze drones in the same way it did during Iran's attack on Israel, John Kirby said that they were talking about different conflicts, "different threat patterns."
He knew that this question would arise and commented on it as follows:
"Listen, we are talking about different conflicts, different airspace, different threat patterns."
He emphasized that America provides Ukraine with the necessary weapons, in particular to protect its airspace, but noted:
"Unfortunately, today we cannot do this because we do not have the additional funding for national security that Ukrainians need so badly."
At the briefing, he also indicated that the best solution would be to provide assistance to the Israel Defense Forces and the Ukrainian military through the passage of the international aid bill that was adopted by the Senate.
Kirby also noted that from the very beginning of the conflict, US President Joe Biden made it clear: The United States does not plan to participate in hostilities in Ukraine.
Earlier, Apostrophe reported that the US Congress may start collecting signatures to put the bill on assistance to Ukraine to a vote in the House of Representatives, bypassing Speaker Mike Johnson.
