The Kremlin takes advantage of contacts with Taliban to answer charges of Russian bounties

As the Joe Biden administration came, Russia has been eager to wipe out a charge of bounties the Taliban received for killing coalition militaries by involving the Taliban in blanking out the Kremlin’s face, as was stated in the investigation of the Institute for the Study of Global Threats to Democracy.

Back in the mid-2000s, Russia along with Iranian leadership established strong contacts with representatives of the Taliban, seeking to ruin the peace-talk process between the United States and the parties to the Afghanistanian conflict. Afghanistan has always been dealt by then as an area of geopolitical competition instead of focusing their efforts to end the decades-long insurgency.

At the same time, conflicts between the official authorities of Afghanistan and the Russian leadership are exacerbated by the fact that Moscow openly supports the Taliban and officially invites representatives of the movement to negotiations.

Russia, China and Iran are all interested American troops withdrawal from Afghanistan and strengthening their influence through the Taliban group. It is known that under the guise of joint military exercises in Tajikistan, Russia secretly supplies military equipment and other weaponry to the Taliban.

Now, after Joe Biden took office as U.S. President, the Kremlin has begun to put renewed pressure on the Taliban leadership, which is required to deny the fact of payments to the Taliban for the destruction of American soldiers.

According to Apostrophe, on February 29, the U.S. signed a historic agreement with the Afghan Taliban group, which may be the start for the complete withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan within the next 14 months and a step towards an end to the 18-year war.
