We are staying in Ukraine: EU and British ambassadors accused Western media of fake news

The ambassadors of Great Britain and the European Union are staying in Ukraine. The information reported by Western media about them leaving Ukraine amid statements of Russia's invasion of Ukraine is not true.

This is stated in the publications of EU and British ambassadors Matti Maasikas and Melinda Simmons on their Twitter pages, Hromadske writes.

Thus, the EU Ambassador called such news spreading on the Internet fake.

"Since the fake news which started from http://ukr.net is still spreading, I repeat: I am in Kyiv and am staying here," he said.

British diplomat Melinda Simmons also assured that she does not plan to leave the country, she will continue to work with her team in Kyiv.

" I am staying in Kyiv and continue to work there with a core team. The embassy remains operational," Simmons said.

Earlier, at the end of January, the U.S. State Department announced that U.S. civil nationals and embassy workers could voluntarily leave Ukraine and ordered their families to leave. Several other countries have also announced the departure of their diplomats' families.

In recent days, Western media have massively reported that the Russian Federation is about to further invade Ukraine.

At the same time, there are opinions that the statements of Western media about Russiapreparing for an escalation are actually designed to force NATO countries to decide on their political position.
