"Russia understood everything": what does Macron's statement on sending troops to Ukraine mean

Russia is frightened by Emmanuel Macron's statement about the possibility of French troops being sent to Ukraine - they say that they will consider it as the deployment of NATO troops, but the law is not on their side.

This was stated by political technologist Mykhailo Sheitelman on the air of "Apostrophe TV".

The Speaker emphasized that the President of France did not specify that the troops will fight on the side of Ukraine. At the same time, there are practices when several countries deploy their contingents in some places to protect them, but not to fight.

"French sent troops more than once - in Lebanon in the 1980s, they also sent troops to many African cities, they sent troops to Vietnam. We bring troops in, they are now standing here. You want to attack this city? - You're attacking France. And I think that Macron said this just in response to the risk of genocide of the Ukrainian people", - explained the politician.

In his opinion, it can indeed become a deterrent, which, in fact, confirmed the reaction of Russia. The Russian Federation said it would consider it a NATO troop deployment.

"But after all, the law is not on their side. The troops, if they are on Ukrainian territory, will be at Ukraine's request. Ukraine has the sovereign right to deploy any troops it wants on its territory. So at that moment Russia will be an aggressor towards these troops from the point of view of the UN, international law, it will be an aggressor towards these countries. Russia understands this, and of course they are scared of it," - summarized the political technologist.
