At a summit on support for Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron said that he did not "rule out" the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine in the future.
This was reported by Le Monde.
"We will do everything necessary to ensure that Russia does not win this war," Macron said at a press conference held on Monday at the Elysee Palace.
Macron also noted that the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine should not be "ruled out" from the options, but "...today there is no consensus on sending ground troops in an official, predictable and approved way."
The French President insisted that this was only a hypothesis that had not yet reached consensus.
Later, Polish President Andrzej Duda also confirmed that there was no consensus on sending Western troops to Ukraine. He announced this already after an informal Summit on support for Ukraine, the AP news agency quotes.
Earlier, Macron announced the creation of a coalition to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles.
